Apprentice Mobility Agreements

Provincial-Territorial Apprentice Mobility

In 2015, Canada’s premiers created the Provincial-Territorial Apprentice Mobility Protocol, which helps apprentices and employers by providing relevant information as well as recognizing work hours and technical (in-school) training completed in any province or territory across Canada. The protocol applies to apprentices and recent graduates of college trades programs who are moving to another province or territory, either temporarily or permanently.

Atlantic Apprentice Mobility

The Atlantic Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Apprentice Mobility allows registered apprentices to work temporarily in their trade in any Atlantic province. Acquired hours and workplace skills will be reviewed and, upon approval, recognized by the home province for credit towards an apprenticeship. Apprentices can continue to access funding and technical (in-school) training in their home province to complete their apprenticeship.
