International Skilled Workers

Skilled workers from outside of Canada play an important role in filling skills shortages in Newfoundland and Labrador, both now and in the future.

If you are an internationally trained worker in a skilled trade, you will need to follow the Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Division’s Trade Qualifier Process to have your skills formally recognized.

You may also have the opportunity to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador permanently through economic immigration programs like the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) or the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). These programs, managed by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism, offer two pathways to permanent residency.
