Jody & Adam
As an employer, Jody knows the key to a thriving industry means passing on journeypersons’ expertise and knowledge to their apprentices. Adam started at Steele Honda as a shop helper — but his dependability and willingness to learn quickly led him to a full-time Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship.
Taylor & Michael
Taylor is still in high school, but our 7-week Youth Apprenticeship Summer Program gave her a running head-start towards her dream of becoming an offshore welder. Teaming up with Michael at A. Harvey & Co. for on-the-job training as a Welder apprentice helped Taylor solidify her goals for her future — plus, she feels empowered every day as a woman in the skilled trades.
Bob & Riley
Bob’s been a journeyperson carpenter for 42 years, but he was an apprentice once — so as the superintendent of Rockwood Homes, it only felt natural to take on an apprentice of his own. His favourite thing about his Carpenter is that he asks tons of questions. For Bob, making it excellent is always the rule — so he loves having a Carpenter apprentice that shares his eye for perfection!
Dillon & Quinten
After starting a family, Dillon knew he needed to make a career change — and he found both the flexibility and financial benefits he was looking for in a skilled trades apprenticeship. As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician apprentice at Harvey & Co., Dillon works closely with his mentor, Quinten, learning as he’s earning (with a goal of becoming a journeyperson one day)!
Brittany & Mark
Mark followed in his father’s footsteps and has been working as a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic for 25 years. Now General Manager of Provincial Refrigeration, he
loves getting the opportunity to mentor apprentices like Brittany and watch them grow as they learn the tricks of the trade. And it’s a win-win: hiring apprentices positively impacts his business, allowing it to grow and thrive in the future.
Ben & Mike
Before coming to Canada, Ben was a primary school teacher in Hong Kong. He wanted to switch gears with a new career where he could use his practical skills and meet new people every day — so a Plumber apprenticeship was his perfect fit. For Mike, experienced journeyperson and owner of H & L Plumbing, having Ben on board has been a massive plus. Not only do the extra hands mean they can take on more work — Mike’s mentorship ensures they’re making it excellent together, every time.
