Specialized Training – Process for Administration

For Training Institutions: Apply to offer specialized training by submitting your application to the Manager of Industrial Training. The application will be assessed based on specific criteria.

Steps to Deliver Specialized Training

  1. Submit Proposals: Follow the provided guidelines and submit a proposal by the given deadline.
  2. Proposal Review: The Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Division (ATCD) will review your proposal to ensure it meets the specific criteria.
  3. Proposal Decision: You will receive a letter of approval or rejection.
  4. Contact Nominees and Confirm Availability/Journeyperson Status: If approved, contact potential journeyperson nominees (must be unemployed and EI eligible) to confirm their availability to attend. Ensure out-of-province journeypersons are verified by ATCD before submitting their names.
  5. Submit Request: Email a Request for Training form with the nominee list to pjst@gov.nl.ca at least 4 weeks before training starts.
  6. Eligibility Confirmation: ATCD will confirm nominee eligibility and inform you via email within 5 business days.
  7. Class Calls: ATCD will issue class calls via email directly to eligible nominee journeypersons.
  8. Deliver Training: Conduct the training as scheduled.
  9. Submit Attendance and Invoices: After the training, submit attendance sheets and invoices for payment processing.
  10. Process Payment: ATCD will process the payment.
