Project Description:

The Proponent is proposing to construct and operate a 3.5 gigawatt (GW) onshore wind energy project consisting of three wind farms with up to 530 turbines in the Central Newfoundland area, and a 150-megawatt solar farm and a 2.6 GW hydrogen/ammonia production facility in Botwood.

• October 7, 2024 – The undertaking was registered.
• November 11, 2024 – Deadline for public comments.
• November 21, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• December 6, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• December 5, 2024 – The Minister determined that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required, and an Environmental Assessment Committee is appointed.
• April 4, 2025 – EIS Guidelines due to be issued.
• February 13, 2025 – Draft EIS Guidelines for public review.
• March 26, 2025 – Deadline for public comments on Draft EIS Guidelines.
• April 2, 2025 – Approved EIS Guidelines Issued.
