Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to construct a 115-metre breakwater on the western shoreline of Chapel’s Cove. The breakwater would protect adjacent roads and residential properties from wave action during storm surge events, mitigating coastal erosion, flooding and damage to the coastline. Construction would involve placement of armour stone using an excavator. No dredging or clearing of the underwater substrate is required.

• May 30, 2025 – The undertaking was registered.
• July 4, 2025 – Deadline for public comments.
• July 14, 2025 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• July 11, 2025 – The Minister determined the project is released.
