Project Description:

The proponent proposes to raise mink within the municipal boundary of the Town of Lawn on the Burin Peninsula. The proposed site is one hectare in size and is located approximately 500 metres south of some local barns and approximately 500 metres north of a salt fish plant. The project will include: importing 1,000 impregnated female mink that will yield an average of four kits per adult, feed kitchen, equipment storage area and a number of mink sheds.

• May 31, 2005 – The undertaking was registered.
• July 6, 2005 – Public comments are due.
• July 15, 2005 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• August 18, 2005 – The Minister announced the undertaking is not to proceed.
