Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct and operate a 200 acre mink farm to the northeast of Buchans, in central Newfoundland . The operation plans to begin with 500 breeding females and expand over the following two to three years to 1,500 female breeders. The undertaking will consist of mink sheds, storage sheds, temporary manure storage, access road and perimeter fencing on 10 acres, with additional land developed as required for manure spreading. Construction is planned to commence in July with arrival of initial breeding stock in April 2007.

• April 5, 2006 – The undertaking was registered.
• May 15, 2006 – Public comments are due.
• May 20, 2006 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• June 30, 2006 – The undertaking was withdrawn.
