Project Description:

The proponent proposes to harvest 53,700 cubic metres of mature to over-mature timber, representing approximately 419 hectares near Captain Storms Brook and Noel Paul Brook, in Forest Management District 12, central Newfoundland . The proposed harvest is scheduled for late fall of 2006 and the winter of 2007. The main forest access road through this proposed harvest area was previously approved during the five-year plan submission (2003-2007) for District 12, Noel Paul South.

• August 11, 2006 – The undertaking was registered.
• September 18, 2006 – Public comments are due.
• September 24, 2006 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• November 17, 2006 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
