Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to establish a mink farm off Route 433, near Bide Arm on the Northern Peninsula . The 150 acre site will have 12-16 mink sheds, a storage shed, perimeter fencing, manure storage and access road. There will be 2,000 – 2,500 initial breeding stock, with expansion in subsequent years. Construction (in stages up to 2010) is tentatively scheduled to begin late summer/early fall of 2007.

• July 16, 2007 – The undertaking was registered.
• August 22, 2007 – Public comments are due.
• August 30, 2007 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• October 18, 2007 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
