Project Description:

The proposed project involves the development of a 24-hectare rock quarry locatedapproximately 1.5 kilometres south of Moosehead Lake and 12 kilometres east of Wabush.The proposed project will require the construction of a 500-metre access road from theTrans Labrador Highway to the site. The proponent proposes to develop the area as anopen pit quarry operation to produce crushed rock for the construction industry and asballast for the QNS&L Railway in western Labrador. Road construction and operations arescheduled to commence in May 2011.

• March 31, 2011 – The undertaking was registered.
• May 6, 2011 – Public comments are due.
• May 15, 2011 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• August 4, 2011 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
