Project Description:
The proponent has submitted a proposal for quarry operations on two separate permit applications totaling 27.6 hectares at Shallop Cove, near St. George’s. No new road construction is anticipated and initial activities include clearing and grubbing to access underlying sand and gravel. The proponent will operate a screener and crusher onsite and resources are expected to last 10 years. The quarry is anticipated to operate between May and October each year. A naturally vegetated buffer of 100 metres lies between the proposed quarry boundary and a small pond.
- September 7, 2016 – The undertaking was registered.
- October 14, 2016 – Deadline for public comments.
- November 15, 2016 – Minister’s decision is due (extended).
- March 16, 2017 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
