Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop an 89 hectare granite crushed rock quarry in Belleoram on the south coast of Newfoundland. The quarry is for exporting aggregate to supply raw material to international markets. The project will include drilling and blasting of the rock source, with the fractured rock being crushed into various sizes. The crushed rock will then be conveyed to a new marine terminal for loading onto a bulk aggregate carrier and shipped to international markets.

• December 8, 2020 – The undertaking was registered.
• January 14, 2021 – Deadline for public comments.
• January 22, 2021 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• March 18, 2021 – The Minister announced the project is released.
