Proponent: Red Moon Resources Inc
Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
Project Description:
The proponent is proposing a processing operation that involves screening approximately 1,000,000 tonnes of waste tailing material, from historical mining, in order to recover salable gypsum. The 28.4 hectare site is located approximately 9 kilometres southwest of St. George’s and was previously developed by producing gypsum operations. The site is accessible via existing site/haul roads that run through past-producing quarry operations, and connect to Route 403 near Flat Bay. The project will include parking and laydown areas, a mobile office trailer, mobile screener, fines stockpiles, security gate, water supply, and waste and septic management systems. Project activities are set to begin in May 2021.
