Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to construct five 4.2 megawatt (MW) wind turbines located at GPS Hill within Voisey’s Bay mining lease in Labrador. The wind energy is intended to offset more than 13% of the mines diesel requirements. Wind energy produced is intended solely for the use of the mine as an off-grid system.

• December 29, 2021 – The undertaking was registered.
• February 3, 2022 – Deadline for public comments.
• February 12, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• March 12, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• March 24, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• April 20, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• May 4, 2022 – The Minister announced the project is released.
