Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a five-year Operating Plan for Zone 5 which includes Forest Management Districts 10, 11, 12 and 13 in Central Newfoundland. Zone 5 extends from Victoria Lake in the west to the Bay d’Espoir highway in the east and from Island Pond in the south to North and South Twin Lakes in the north. The undertaking describes proposed commercial and domestic harvesting, road construction and reforestation activities. The plan is scheduled to commence on January 1, 2026, and end on December 31, 2030.

• August 29, 2025 – The undertaking was registered.
• October 3, 2025 – Deadline for public comments.
• October 13, 2025 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• October 10, 2025 – The Minister has determined the project is released.
