Project Description:
The proponent is proposing to amend the Forest Management District 21 Five-Year Operating Plan (2022–2026) for the Charlottetown area in Labrador with the purpose of reducing wildfire risk. The proposal would involve expanding the Charlottetown Domestic Cutting Block to allow domestic wood cutting as a means of lowering fuel loads around the community. The amendment would cover approximately 2,233 hectares of productive forest land. All conditions from the original Five-Year Operating Plan remain in effect.
- November 21, 2025 – The undertaking was registered.
- December 26, 2025 – Deadline for public comment.
- January 5, 2026 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- January 7, 2026 – The Minister determined that the project is released.
