Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
The proponent plans to construct and operate a 15 MW wind power project near Old Perlican and within the triangle formed by the towns of Grates Cove and Bay de Verde, as per Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro’s request for proposals. The proposed project is for 25 individual wind turbine generators. The wind turbines are horizontal axis, three bladed wind energy converters with a maximum hub height of 60 metres and rotor diameter of between 40 and 50 metres. The undertaking was registered on December 6.
- March 16, 2001 – the Minister announced an extension of the decision on the registration until April 15, 2001.
- May 7, 2001 – the Minister announced that the proponent had withdrawn the project.
