Project Description:

The proposed project is the relocation of an existing commercial salvage yard from it’s present location at Pocket Road, Long Pond, Conception Bay South to a new location at Incinerator Road, off the Foxtrap Access Road. Formerly this was a car wreck storage site for the town of Conception Bay South, but now the site is under the jurisdiction of the City of St. John’s. The site is approximately 4.5 hectares in area.

The purpose of relocation is that space has become limited at the present facility. The proponent proposes a larger site located a reasonable distance from developed and undeveloped urban areas to accommodate future expansion and alleviate aesthetic concerns.

• April 30, 2001 – The undertaking was registered.
• June 18, 2001 – The Minister announced that the project was released from environmental assessment.
