Summary
This open file data release consists of U‒Pb isotopic data of detrital zircons from five sedimentary rock samples collected from the Sweet Bay map area on the Bonavista Peninsula, Avalon Zone, Newfoundland.
Four of the five samples yielded maximum depositional ages (MDA) of 600 Ma (within error), as anticipated, based on existing U‒Pb (TIMS; zircon) constraints between 620 and 600 Ma for rocks of the Connecting Point Group. One sample, however, yielded a younger MDA of 584.9 ± 3.3 Ma.
