Department of Education
As a Policy, Planning and Research Analyst with the Evaluation and Training Division, Department of Education, Cecilia Converse is responsible for the annual collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting of K-12 statistical information for all schools in the province. She regularly works with principals, school district staff, and officials of the Department of Education, providing information for policy, planning and projections.
Cecilia’s proficiency and experience in high quality research, data analysis, and reporting is confirmed in the many statistical and planning publications she has produced since coming to the Department in 1999. Some of those publications include, Career Search 2002 and 2004, a report on the Canadian Tests of Basic Skills, the Education Statistics reports, as well as a number of ad hoc reports based on needs of school boards and the Department.
Cecilia also did work with the well-publicized Individual Support Services Plan (ISSP) Commission on students with special needs. Cecilia’s successful work is reflected in the high response rate and the high level of accuracy of data she collects from the system.
During the past couple of years, Cecilia has worked tirelessly with principals and visited all school districts in order to ensure that they can use the statistical management system necessary to provide accurate information. The support provided in the many letters from the district staff, thanking her for her humor and patience, is a testament to Cecilia’s hard work and dedication. Cecilia’s pride in her work is demonstrated in all tasks she undertakes.
