Crystal Breon

Regardless of the task, Crystal Breon performs each duty with care, expertise and a positive attitude. Crystal played a leadership role with the Boundary Working Group for the proposed Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve in Labrador. She guided the Boundary Working Group through the complexities of refining a conceptual boundary for the new national park reserve to develop a legal boundary description and recommendations for the Federal-Provincial Land Transfer Agreement Negotiating Team.

Working in partnership with her Parks Canada co-chair, Crystal facilitated the working group in their identification of issues and guided them to agreement on solutions to reach the ultimately successful conclusion of a fully described, surveyed park boundary. In the process, the working group developed an innovative and more cost-effective approach to surveying and marking the park boundary.

Crystal coordinated input from provincial agencies to ensure that all third-party and Aboriginal land interests were addressed in the final boundary, and the survey and legislative requirements of both federal and provincial land agencies were met. She brought together technical input from provincial and federal team members with diverse expertise, mandates and opinions. Through her diligent work as a group leader, other Provincial Government staff were able to bring their perspectives to the table.

Crystal's work on this project established her leadership skills and emphasized her adaptability to take on new and challenging projects of any kind. She is professional, capable and accommodating. She has a commitment to lifelong learning which is demonstrated by her enthusiasm for taking on new projects.

Nominators say Crystal is always a pleasure to work with. She is cooperative and thoughtful of her co-workers and consistently contributes to building team spirit. She produces quality work and is willing to go above and beyond to get the job done.

Crystal's strongest assets are her people skills, her enthusiasm, and her positive and thoughtful approach to finding solutions to complex issues.
