For the past 20 years Constable Joe Mitchell has worked with perseverance and initiative to be the best investigator he can be. While it is difficult to pinpoint just one incident where Joe has excelled in his job, his work with a police cadet in 2002 speaks of his dedication to his job and to others around him. For 13 weeks, Joe and this cadet worked together. Upon graduating from the police academy, the cadet was awarded Top Overall Cadet. Joe led by example showing this cadet the skills necessary to excel.
Joe is described as hard working and one of the best investigators within the RNC. He is also known for his tenacity, not giving up on a file, including cold case files.
Joe’s quiet dedication to policing is noted by his peers as an example to junior officers and as a reliable support to his fellow officers. The consistently high calibre of his work is an asset to the public and serves an important function in society. Joe will certainly return home with his award ready to continue serving the people of this province faithfully.
