Health and Community Services
As a Health Policy Analyst in the Department of Health and Community Services, Danny Barrett goes above and beyond the scope of his position each and every day.
Danny has the gift of leading an initiative while making team members feel valued and respected. He led the province-wide public information sessions on the Personal Health Information Act. He has also been a key player in significant files such as the Adult Dental Program and the Adult Protection Act. He sees beyond the goal of creating legislation, policies, programs and services. He has a deep appreciation and understanding of how these components are interconnected, their significance in the decision-making process, and the importance of input and sharing.
Working in a fast paced, high-stress environment, with constant deadlines, Danny sets the highest standards for himself and always strives to achieve them. His commitment comes partly from his training as a social worker, partly from his work ethic and partly from the profound respect he has for the public service. His work is of the highest calibre. He understands and supports transparency and accountability and applies these principles to everything that he does. For example, when responding to requests for child protection records, Danny recognizes the nature of the information being sought and is sensitive to the potential impact it may have on the lives of the people involved. He goes out of his way to support the applicant throughout the process – an act that is greatly appreciated.
Danny truly believes in collaboration and is a dedicated supporter of creating positive workplaces, and a society, that are inclusive. He continuously makes his department and government proud with everything he does. With a strong social conscience and the ability to adapt to any situation, Danny exemplifies excellence in public service.
