Forest Resources and Agrifoods
As one of the original field veterinarians providing full-time farm animal veterinary services to support a growing agriculture industry, Ron helped create many of the high standards farmers expect today.
In 1975 Ron came to this province, for a short stay, to work with the newly created Veterinary Services Division. Now, 28 years later, he has taken only six sick days and for months, at a time, has provided 24 hour emergency on-call service including evenings, weekends, and holidays - an exemplary record.
Ron is held in the highest regard by the people he serves, and the growth of the dairy industry in the eastern region from a few family farms to a multi-million dollar industry has been aided, in no small part, by his dedication.
Ron has also helped the future veterinarians of the province and the country. His support of students in completing their in-field hours and his service to the provincial and national veterinary medical associations are indicative of his caring.
Ron’s dedication to his profession, the public service, and to his clients - the farmers - goes unchallenged, not just in the public service but in society as a whole. He has set the benchmark for service quality delivery.
