Under the leadership of Premier Williams and the oversight of Mr. Ed Martin, President and CEO of Nalcor Energy, the team of Christine Healy, Craig Martin, Julia Mullaley, Randy Pelletier, and Tracey Pennell transformed the policy principles of the province’s Energy Plan into an astounding success.
The negotiating team brought new legal concepts and models to the negotiating table that showed how the provincial goals could be integrated into the Hibernia project. The co-operation and dedication this team demonstrated in achieving their goals is second to none; their contributions are diverse and far-reaching.
The work of this team has a serious social dimension as well. In negotiating the Hibernia South Extension Agreement the team was also hard at work honouring commitments to women’s equity and diversity programs which formed part of the contract.
The team, together with the support of a wide group of expert and committed employees within the Department of Natural Resources, in other departments and in Nalcor, combined legal, financial, and policy expertise to develop a set of fair and principled arrangements. In doing so they created a new standard and a great deal of respect in the capacity of our province to participate in the oil and gas industry, thereby distinguishing themselves professionally and enhancing important government programs.
The core team’s participation in negotiating Hibernia South has helped secure a prosperous future for this province.
