Department of Education
As the Director of the Department of Education’s Design and Construction Division, Ingrid is responsible for managing the record infrastructure investment allocated in recent Budgets to address the needs of the province’s 400 plus school projects. Since 1997, Ingrid has overseen over a half a billion dollar commitment by government to the provincial school infrastructure system. Most recently this included overseeing nine new school constructions and six school extensions.
Renowned for her innovative approach to streamline the division through standardized policies and procedures for all daily operations, Ingrid has led the division in developing a Standardized School Planning Manual. This manual ensures fairness across all five school districts in school design. In addition, the manual assists and streamlines the planning and design stages of school construction. As a result, the schools being constructed today are state of the art in engineering and educational programming design.
Ingrid has an unrivalled ability to balance numerous high-level work demands while maintaining an open door leadership style. She does this with grace, honesty and integrity.
Ingrid graduated from Memorial University in 1985 as one of five female engineers in a class of 73. Some may consider her as a pioneer. Her strong work ethic has gained her the respect of the industry. In 2009, Ingrid was recognized by Engineers Canada and received the prestigious designation as a Fellow Engineer of Canada.
She is a shining and inspiring ambassador for the Department of Education and the public service of Newfoundland and Labrador.
