Department of Justice and Public Safety
Working as an Adult Probation Officer in Labrador and supporting clients is an important role and one which Jackie Compton Hobbs takes seriously as she goes above and beyond to meet client needs.
Jackie has worked with clients in the justice system for 13 years. In her roles she constantly works to understand the needs of clients, takes action and delivers results for these individuals beyond normal expectations. She accomplishes this through dedication and understanding.
Jackie offers individualized care and support for clients on a regular basis. For example: she secured funding through the Supportive Living Program for building materials so a client could continue to live in his home; she has provided clothing and food for clients and directed them to community resources; and she has provided counselling services and assisted clients in finding the best supports.
Former clients stay in contact with Jackie and she continues to support them as a mentor. She also collaborates on a daily basis with other departments, non-government partners and Aboriginal groups, regarding employment referrals, counselling and housing.
This is how Jackie performs her duties – going above and beyond each and every day for her clients and her community. She is a wonderful example of an individual who is caring, dedicated and concerned for those she encounters in her life and work.
