Justice and Public Safety
Jacqueline Warford is a Classification Officer with the Department of Justice and Public Safety.
In 2015, Jacqueline partnered with the Atlantic Lion Clubs and Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre to develop a plan to create a recycling depot at the Bishop’s Falls Correctional Centre.
Jacqueline spearheaded this community partnership which creates life-changing connections for both the inmates and those given the gift of sight from a recycled pair of glasses. Her leadership role has ensured the success of this meaningful venture with more than 500,000 pairs of donated glasses.
Her involvement in this project ranges from delivery of donated glasses, training participants, quality control, and transportation of finished products. This work has proven to enhance the lives of inmates serving time at the facility. Those involved describe the program as being valuable as a rehabilitation program. They often feel a sense of pride as they are giving back and making a difference in the lives of people.
Strong relationships have been formed with The Gathering Place, Choices for Youth and Team Broken earn due to Jacqueline’s passion, drive and determination to help others.
