Jamie Dower is the Manager of the Statistical Data Product Development Group at the Newfoundland and Labrador Statistics Agency.
With over two decades in the public service, Jamie has been a driving force in modernizing the agency’s strategic direction. He leads a team dedicated to developing innovative statistical applications that support evidence-based decision-making across government.
A skilled problem-solver and strategic thinker, Jamie played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic, guiding the agency’s transition to agile work models. His leadership has fostered a more forward-thinking and responsive organization.
Jamie led the creation of a public fire hazard mapping tool and collaborated on a groundbreaking social asset map. A strong advocate for open data, Jamie contributes to the Newfoundland and Labrador open data platform and has served on the federal open data committee.
He also spearheaded the development of the Community Accounts content management software, an innovative system enabling the publication of data, charts, and maps. Initially designed to fill a critical gap in government tools, its use has since expanded beyond the province, into Northern Ontario.
Respected for his collaboration and communication skills, Jamie is also a dedicated health and safety champion, helping to establish a wellness room at Mews Place to support colleagues' mental health.
