Labour
Having dedicated his entire career to the field of labour relations, Joe possesses strong beliefs, values and a positive attitude. He is always interested in learning something new and uses every opportunity to make others feel valued.
Joe pioneered the province’s Preventive Mediation Program, which encourages a shift to a more positive labour relations environment and promotes responsible collective bargaining.
In 1997 Joe was appointed as a commissioner on a task force to address labour relations in the province’s fishing industry. In 1998, an interest-based bargaining model for price negotiations was established. The result has been unprecedented labour peace and stability in the industry. The model has benefitted the industry by increasing market returns through improved stability and hence better market access. It has helped improve product quality and resulted in timely starts to all major fisheries.
Joe’s level of professionalism and expertise have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. He is unbiased and objective, excels in kindness and consideration and is very thorough, conscientious and dedicated.
