Judy Hodge

2015
Department of Advanced Education and Skills

To provide a quality service to the citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador, employees need to be knowledgeable and fair, strive for positive outcomes, be timely in their response, and when needed, go the extra mile. Judy Hodge demonstrates all of these characteristics each day in her interactions with colleagues and clients and is a true model of client service excellence.

Judy as Regional Enquiries Coordinator, with the Avalon region of the Department of Advanced Education and Skills, works closely with income support clients on challenging files and provides a personalized service to meet their needs. She always addresses clients’ questions and concerns in a respectful manner and advocates to ensure they receive all available services; often taking the initiative to collaborate and problem solve with other government and community partners. Judy regularly accepts client feedback and brings forward recommendations on how to improve the service experience for clients.

Judy has built strong partnerships with other government and non-government organizations including Eastern Health, Newfoundland and Labrador Housing and the Office of the Citizen’s Representative. In particular, Judy was publicly recognized in the Citizen’s Representative 2014/15 digest “kudos” section for her work, and it was noted that she is “Timely, efficient and effective in bringing positive change wherever she can, Judy is an asset to her department.”

Judy is a true example of public service excellence, a respected mentor to her colleagues and a leader in providing high-quality services to her clients.
