Peggy Jones

2003
Human Resources, Labour and Employment

Always at the forefront of recognizing the importance of valuing people as well as programs, Peggy Jones continues to persevere in finding positive ways of incorporating the two. Her impact on the Human Resources, Labour and Employment district in which she works has gained her the notoriety of being its social conscience. She is capable of adding a personal anecdote to every discussion, reminding the staff of the clients they serve.

Peggy is a grassroots social activist whose unique perspective inspires her co-workers to look at situations from all angles. She takes an active role in listening to the issues, voicing her concerns and working towards positive change and a brighter future. Throughout her 27 years in the public service, she approaches matters with the same question in mind - What changes will improve the standard of living for the people we serve?

Known to her community, and her co-workers, as someone who always goes the extra mile, Peggy is affectionately known by her clients as the keeper of the people. She is a constant reminder to those around her that the best way to value people is through the way you live your own life everyday. Peggy provides some form of informal leadership in everything she does.

We rarely, as a group, honour those who work tirelessly; not for glory, not for personal gain or ambition, but rather for a deeply held belief and the intrinsic rewards of delivering social work to the residents of the province - that is what Peggy Jones does.
