Immigration, Population Growth and Skills
Roberto Malta is a Senior Policy Planning and Research Analyst with Immigration, Population Growth and Skills.
Roberto developed an original approach to population forecasting that has proven indispensable in supporting the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism and its partners, including the Association for New Canadians. His innovative system has been especially valuable in preparing for and supporting the resettlement of Ukrainians, as well as planning for population growth as newcomers arrive in the province in record numbers.
The predictions using Roberto’s model of Ukrainian arrivals have demonstrated an accuracy of 84 per cent. The model has achieved nearly 90 per cent accuracy for other categories.
The model he created has increased both operational and financial efficiency and helped the Provincial Government prepare and respond to a complex and evolving reality.
Notably, this was a personal initiative of Roberto’s, as it was beyond his job description.
