Vera Hilliard provides administrative support to the Family Justice Services and the Policy and Strategic Planning Divisions of the Department of Justice. She has a positive influence on her environment and uses her leadership skills, energy and enthusiasm to help motivate others. Her sense of humour on the job is an added bonus for those who work closely with her.

Vera embodies and demonstrates the core values of the Department of Justice: accountability, integrity, excellence, collaboration and accessibility. She is a valued colleague because of her desire to go above and beyond the call of duty. For example she has assisted the Policy and Strategic Planning Division by learning the financial process for payments for professional services. She found efficiencies in the initial work required to begin the processing of payments. This included the identification and organization of all information required, meticulous documentation, and follow-up with clients and other relevant personnel.

As another example, her colleagues can speak to the value of Vera’s forms and templates that she maintains for tracking and accountability purposes. These forms can range from budget monitoring, to tracking the status of work on a project.

Vera has an uncanny knack of being able to see the bigger picture, organize her day, prioritize her work and balance competing demands.
