Virginia Connors

2002
Executive Council

The role that Virginia performs is critical to the successful management of an office environment and the team of people that function within it. She demonstrates the skills of leadership through her strong sense of professionalism and dedication to her work. This is easily and quietly communicated to all who work with her. Virginia sets performance standards by demonstrating them.

Within the limits of her role, Virginia assumes responsibility and makes decisions. She can "gatekeep" with the best, relieving her boss of those issues that can be problem-solved by her. She can astutely size up a crisis situation (commonplace in the Office of the Clerk), determine what requires her boss’ immediate attention and offer advice on the proper approach, avoiding unnecessary grief. She is truly confident in her role.

When dealing with a minister, deputy minister, a co-worker or someone her junior, Virginia gives respect and demands respect in return. In the type of environment within which she functions, her clients are the people she works with and for, and her objective is always to provide the best service, produce flawless work and generally keep everyone on an even keel, despite the pressure and crisis of the moment.
