Evaluation and Accountability Division

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is working to enhance accountability, evaluation, and continuous improvement throughout operations and services. Through systematic evaluations and the informed analysis of data, we strive to make evidence-based decisions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of public policies and services. The Evaluation and Accountability Division is dedicated to collaborating with all government departments to support the evaluation and continuous improvements of policies, programs, and initiatives.

Under the Transparency and Accountability Act, the Evaluation and Accountability division will:

  • Deliver training and education on evaluation and accountability initiatives and methods/skills.
  • Provide leadership in the government’s commitment to enhanced accountability, evaluation, and continuous improvement, including providing tools for evaluation planning, change management support, and identifying continuous improvement processes.
  • Guide annual reports and multi-year performance-based planning.
  • Ensure new programs and policies consider key governance, accountability, and evaluation principles to improve outcomes and ensure value for money.
  • Develop, implement, and provide oversight of the Accountability Framework which applies to departments, entities, community-based organizations, and any organization in receipt of public funds.
  • Ensure policies, programs and initiatives are aligned with GNL’s strategic vision.
