Premises identification is a key component of an effective traceability system and emergency management plan. It supports efforts to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, foreign animal disease outbreaks, and other emergencies that may threaten animal or human health. During an animal health event, having accurate animal location data and other essential information in a single system is critical to enabling a rapid, accurate, and cost-effective emergency response.
In Newfoundland and Labrador, premises identification links livestock and poultry to specific parcels of land, strengthening disease management and improving coordination during animal health and emergency response situations.
