Operator of the Year Award

In  order to recognize the outstanding dedication of those operators who provide us with exceptional  workmanship  in maintaining  the  integrity  of  our  Water  and  Wastewater  Systems,  the  Department  of  Environment, Conservation,  and  Climate  Change created  the  Operator  of  the  Year  award. 

For  2026 two awards will be presented;

  • Operator of the Year;
  • Small  System  Operator  of  the  Year.    The  small  system  category  will  be  available  to  operators  of  water systems that service less than 500 people.

Recipients of the 2025 awards were:

  • Operator of the Year - Claude Bennett (Town of St. Georges)
  • Small System Operator of the Year - Sammy Burrage (Town of New Perlican)

Nominees should demonstrate ingenuity, proficiency, dedication and professionalism in the operation of water and wastewater systems. Eligible operators must be certified or actively working towards certification, participate in ongoing education and training, and exhibit leadership, teamwork, and a committment to going above and beyond for their community.
