This program area focuses on excellence in infection prevention and control practices in the province of Newfoundland Labrador. This is accomplished through collaboration with the Provincial Infection Control group (PIC-NL), by maximizing coordination and integration of activities related to health care associated infections, infection prevention and control, and surveillance using an evidence-based approach.
This is achieved by:
- Fostering collaboration between the Health Authority Zones on infection prevention and control issues;
- Developing relevant policy and guidelines;
- Providing knowledge to guide investigation or practices (i.e. best practice guidelines); and
- Advocating on behalf of the community of practice for appropriate and sustainable resources
