What Is Labour Mobility?
Labour Mobility means that if you are certified to work in a regulated occupation in one province or territory, you should be able to work in the same occupation elsewhere in Canada, without having to go through significant additional training, experience, examination or assessment, unless an exception has been posted.
A more though description of Labour Mobility can be found on the Labour Mobility website
The detailed Labour Mobility rules are outlined in Chapter 7 of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), which all provinces, territories and the federal government have signed.
What are Labour Mobility Exceptions?
Exceptions exist in cases where there are major differences in the scope of practice/job duties between provinces/territories. In those cases, the new jurisdiction may ask for extra training, exams or experience. Governments regularly review and update these exceptions. The current list is posted on the Labour Mobility website under the Exceptions by Jurisdiction – Worker’s Mobility.
