The Trans Labrador Highway (Phase III) Protected Road Zoning Plan covers the portion of the Trans Labrador Highway between Cartwright Junction and Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Preparations of this plan included:
- A highway inventory
- Consultations with town councils, indigenous governments and organizations, and other highway stakeholders and
- Public meetings in Cartwright and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Prepared under the authority of the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000, and in accordance with the Protected Road Zoning Regulations, the Trans-Labrador Highway (Phase III) Protected Road Zoning Plan will be used to manage land use and development within the building control line. The building control lines extend 400 metres from each side of the highway centerline creating an 800 metre corridor.
The Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs now wishes to bring this protected road zoning plan to public hearing.
