The Honourable Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today expressed his heart-felt condolences to the family of the Honourable Robert Wells, Q.C.

“The passing of Justice Wells comes with great sadness. I have known former Justice Wells and his family since I delivered his daily newspaper as a child many years ago. Over the years, I was deeply inspired by his commitment to public service and his compassion for others. As a lawyer, MHA, Cabinet Minister, judge and commissioner of the Offshore Helicopter Safety Inquiry, he served Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with great pride and distinction. He will be deeply missed and his legacy will live on for years.”

To honour the life and legacy of former Justice Wells, flags have been lowered to half-mast at Confederation Building in St. John’s.
