The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced over $535,000 in provincial support for four unique research and development projects that further advance and diversify Newfoundland and Labrador’s evolving innovation and technology industry.
The National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) is also contributing advisory services and up to a combined $246,075 in funding to support the four projects.
Details on today’s investments are as follows:
- Dialog Enterprises Rally received $265,000 to further innovate and develop its Rally legal This upgrade will allow the company Rally to automatically draft, interpret and modify, interpret and analyze collections of corporate documents and legal data. legal data/contracts without relying on traditional legal documents or expertise.
- HYKE Technologies was the recipient of a non-repayable contribution of $102,460 to assist with the development of the second phase of its flagship HYKE platform. This funding will support a real-time version of the HYKE app platform that analyzes consumers’ subconscious purchase behavior by increasing their buying power and aims to replace coupons and loyalty point programs.
- AS Works received a non-repayable contribution of $86,000 to incorporate Artificial Intelligence into its existing Ducted Fan Unmanned Aerial System. This enhancement will allow the system to operate autonomously, while collecting and processing data. This improved technology will provide users, such as military, search and rescue, and first responders, with increased situational awareness, assessment and mapping for safety.
- NuCliq Biologics was the recipient of $81,562 to assist in the design and development of its ‘Gut-Check’ analysis kit. This non-repayable contribution will help the company profile bacteria from an individual’s gut microbiome, providing a simplified Gut Health report with detailed information about personalized food and customized probiotic recommendations for customers and doctors.
With an estimated value of $1.6 billion, the technology sector in Newfoundland and Labrador has grown to over 160 companies and 4,000 employees; with demand for new jobs in the industry expected to exceed 2,000 over the next three years.
