Today, the Honourable Derrick Bragg, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for Coast of Bays—Central—Notre Dame, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Wayne Collins, Mayor of Town of Fogo Island, announced more than $816,000 in joint funding to improve potable water infrastructure on Fogo Island, in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Work includes installing 650 meters of water pipes along Hewitt’s Point Road. Once complete, these improvements will increase the town’s capacity to provide potable water to residents and business, and will connect 25 new homes to water services.
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is providing over $408,000 through the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan, with the Government of Canada investing more than $320,000 in this project. The municipality is contributing more than $81,000 toward this project.
