November 9, 2021

The fishing enterprise Four Jacks Enterprises Ltd. has been charged with violations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

The charges are in relation to an incident that occurred in November 2019 in Port de Grave, when a worker preparing the vessel for the end of season suffered serious injuries to one of his legs.

Four Jacks Enterprises Ltd. is charged with two violations relating to its alleged failure as an employer to ensure that information, instruction, training, supervision and facilities were provided to ensure safety; and alleged failure to ensure that where the unexpected energization of equipment could cause injury, that the energy source was isolated and effectively controlled.

The company’s first appearance is scheduled for December 1, 2021, at Provincial Court in Harbour Grace.
