The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Channel-Port aux Basques Cottage Access Road (Reg. 2128)
Proponent: Mr. David Gibb
The proponent is proposing to construct an access road to their cottage from the J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park Road, located approximately 9.5 kilometres west along the Trans-Canada Highway from the Town of Channel-Port aux Basques. The road would be approximately 1.3 kilometres long and would provide year-round access to the proponent’s existing cabin lot. The proposed road would follow an older existing road and would require the installation of a culvert near the park road; tree and brush removal; and, surface coating with sand.
The undertaking was registered on April 14, 2021; the deadline for public comments is May 19, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by May 29, 2021.
Upper Humber River Tourist Lodge (Reg. 2129)
Proponent: Rob Clarke Motorsports Inc.
The proponent is proposing to construct a tourism lodge to provide full-service accommodation as part of a guided snowmobile tour operation. The site is located off Route 420, 24 kilometres from the Trans-Canada Highway towards Jackson’s Arm, at the mile 24 marker on Taylor’s Brook Road. The lodge will be a combination of metal frame Quonset hut building and timber frame construction on a concrete slab and will require a well and septic disposal field. An accessory building for storage will also be constructed. The site was previously cleared and a 60 metre access road was constructed initially for a private cottage lot.

Pinware River Cabin (Reg. 2130)
Proponent: Anthony and Vera O’Brien
The proponent is proposing to develop a cabin for recreational use on the Pinware River, approximately 10 kilometres north of the Town of Pinware, off Route 510. Construction of the cabin would take place onsite, and is expected to include the clearing of trees, and the installation of a well and septic system. The project is estimated to take 24 months to complete.
The undertaking was registered on April 14, 2021; public comments are due by May 19, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by May 29, 2021.
Forest Management District 13 (Zone 5) Amendment (Reg. 2131)
Proponent: Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture
The proponent is proposing an amendment to the Five Year Operating Plan for Crown Forest Management District 13 (Zone 5), to include 103 hectares of additional domestic cutting areas. The areas are located north of Tower Road on the Burgeo Highway (Route 480). The operating plan is for the period of January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2025.
The undertaking was registered on April 14, 2021; the deadline for public comments is May 19, 2021; and the minister’s decision is due by May 29, 2021.
