The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Pinware River Cabin (O’Brien)                                                                (Reg. 2132)
Proponent: Ronald and Lori O’Brien

The proponent is proposing to develop a cabin for recreational use on the Pinware River, approximately 10 kilometres north of the Town of Pinware, off Route 510. Construction of the cabin would take place onsite, and is expected to include the clearing of trees, and the installation of a well and septic system. The project is estimated to take 15 months to complete.

The undertaking was registered on April 22, 2021; public comments are due by May 28, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by June 06, 2021.

Pinware River Cabin (Rowsell)                                                               (Reg. 2133)
Proponent: Andrew and Gail Rowsell

The proponent is proposing to develop a cabin for recreational use on the Pinware River, approximately 10 kilometres north of the Town of Pinware, off Route 510. Construction of the cabin would take place onsite, and is expected to include the clearing of trees, and the installation of a well and septic system. The project is estimated to take 24 months to complete.

The undertaking was registered on April 22, 2021; public comments are due by May 28, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by June 06, 2021.

Grant’s Pit Quarry                                                                                     (Reg. 2134)
Proponent: ANW Construction Ltd.

The proponent is proposing to develop a 5-hectare sand and gravel quarry in Grant’s Pit, approximately 6 kilometres east of Gambo. Quarry access will include the upgrading of an existing driveway, and the construction of a new road to the quarry site. The development will include vegetation clearing, grubbing and stockpiling of material on site. The operation will consist of extracting and screening material and is scheduled to begin spring 2021.

The undertaking was registered on April 22, 2021; public comments are due by May 28, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by June 06, 2021.

Southern Bay Blue Spruce R.V. Park and Campground                (Reg. 2135)
Proponent: CamKap Software Development Group Inc.

The proponent proposes to construct and operate a 22-hectare R.V. Park and Campground near Southern Bay on the Bonavista peninsula. The proposed 130-unit park will be built over a three to four year period and will be serviced with internet, sanitary sewer, water, fire pit, picnic table and electricity. Access is planned from Route 230 to the south and another access will be constructed to connect with the former rail bed to the north of the park.

The undertaking was registered on April 22, 2021; public comments are due by May 28, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by June 06, 2021.

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT GUIDELINES ISSUED:

Rennies River Flood Mitigation                                                              (Reg. 2115)
Portugal Cove Road to King’s Bridge Road
Proponent: City of St. John’s

The minister has approved the final guidelines for the preparation of the environmental preview report (EPR) for the Rennies River Flood Mitigation Kings Bridge Road to Portugal Cove Road project. The EPR guidelines identify the information that the proponent will be required to include in the EPR. The EPR guidelines document is available on the Department of Environment and Climate Change website at www.gov.nl.ca/eccm/projects/project-2115/  or by contacting the Chair of the Environmental Assessment Committee, Vicki Ficzere at vickificzere@gov.nl.ca
