Today, the Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister Responsible for Labour, is acknowledging and thanking workers in Newfoundland and Labrador for their efforts in making the province a stronger place.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, workers in Newfoundland and Labrador have continued to provide valuable contributions to our economy, culture and society while ensuring the safety of residents of the province.

Labour Day, recognized each year in Canada on the first Monday of September, is a time to reflect and honour the workforce as the backbone of our communities and thank them for the many worker protections and benefits all Canadians now enjoy.

Quote
“As Minister Responsible for Labour, it is my privilege to recognize and honour workers on Labour Day. Our province’s biggest asset is its people, and workers have shown dedication and fortitude during these unprecedented times. I wish everyone a safe Labour Day weekend and want to thank all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians for their commitment to having safe and productive workplaces in our province.”
