The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister Responsible for Labour, today announced the appointment of Suzanne Hollett as the Chief Review Commissioner of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Review Division (WHSCRD). Ms. Hollett has been appointed to a five-year term, effective December 3, 2021.

Ms. Hollett was selected through a merit based process under the Independent Appointments Commission Act. Ms. Hollett was appointed as interim Chief Review Commissioner in December 2020 following the retirement of the previous Chief Review Commissioner.
WHSCRD reviews final decisions of WorkplaceNL to ensure compliance with the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act and Regulations and is mandated to direct appropriate remedies where necessary. WHSCRD is separate and independent from WorkplaceNL.

BACKGROUNDER
Biographical Information for Suzanne Hollett
Suzanne Hollett graduated from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2000. She then attended the University of New Brunswick and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2003.
After several years in private practice, she joined the public service of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2008 as an analyst with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. In this role, Ms. Hollett reviewed decisions of public bodies to ensure compliance with the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Act. She subsequently worked with Nalcor as an Access and Privacy Officer, until January 2019 when she was appointed a Review Commissioner with the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Review Division.
Ms. Hollett has a broad range of experience in legal analysis/interpretation, dispute resolution, oversight of legislative compliance and administrative decision-making/adjudication. She also holds a Certificate in Adjudication for Administrative Agencies, Boards and Tribunals through Osgoode Hall, York University.
